StratProfiles: Ade Cayaco, AI Capability Head

In StratProfiles, we get to know the Stratizens — their aspirations and inspirations. We hope that, like them, you grow your career with Stratpoint too.

Ade Cayaco, AI Capability Head

What did you want to be when you were young?

An engineer. I liked to dismantle toys as a kid. The problem was reassembling them! What I do in Stratpoint is not so different — I just do it in the software world. And I now know better how to find solutions to the problems.

How did you end up as the AI Capability Head?

I was fresh out of UP when I worked in Stratpoint. I started as a mobile developer, but I was also very interested in low-level or hardware programming. I used that to tackle more complex problems that dealt with the OS or kernel-level code. Then, I branched out to cross-platform development and desktop application development. I have a very curious nature, so AI, being an emerging tech, was something I was excited about. I took the plunge and learned how it worked. I even started a learning group and initiative within Stratpoint. With the support of management and our CEO, we started our AI laboratory unit, and I became the capability head.

What do you think is IT’s role in making the world a better place?

In the age of the internet, technology should be used to elevate our living standards. Recently, it has helped decentralize and democratize education by making knowledge available on-demand. That’s a great thing because technology should be accessible to everyone.

What do you like most about being in Stratpoint?

Stratpoint encourages its employees to take charge of their learning. We never stop being curious.

Tech continuously evolves — how do you keep yourself updated?

I read. I use social media for educational purposes by following trailblazers in the industry.

I execute. I pull code from Github and make it work in my own machine or environment.

I experiment. I break the code and apply it to my own use case.

If you weren’t at Stratpoint where do you think you would be?

I’d probably be in another engineering field — maybe robotics or mechanical engineering.

Among popular tech personalities, who do you want to emulate and why?

In the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark — creating Jarvis is a dream.

In our actual universe, Vinton Cerf and Bob Kahn. They are the computer scientists credited with creating the internet we know today.

If you could invent/build any tech today, what would it be?

A new form of battery technology:  environmentally friendly, cheap to manufacture, and with a larger capacity.

What is your ultimate goal career-wise?

Retire early by creating my own product or my own intellectual property.

What are your pursuits outside of work?

Relearning life through the eyes of my 1 year old son.

What is your advice to younger professionals?

Never stop being curious! Use programming languages as tools for problem solving (instead of worshiping them!).
