In line with its mission to uplift communities through education, Stratpoint Technologies is proud to support the TESDA Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) program in partnership with Joysis TVI, a TESDA-accredited and SEC-registered technical vocational institution (TVI).
As part of this initiative, Stratpoint will offer a free 120-hour Java capstone training program from January 6 to 24, 2025. This program is designed to equip young tech talents with industry-relevant skills, paving the way for their successful entry into the tech industry.
Led by Stratpoint Chief Technology Officer Zayd Tolentino and Learning & Development Manager Nicky Balderosa, this program will train Joysis TVI Java NCIII students and focus on critical tech competencies demanded by today’s industry, such as object-oriented programming, database management, and quality assurance.
As part of the program, trainees will work on developing a Java-based e-wallet application with key features such as user registration, cash-in functionality through mock APIs, balance inquiries, and fund transfers.
“We wanted this to feel like a real software development project, so we included components like API integration and database operations, which are highly practical skills in the industry,” shared Zayd. “We carefully designed and customized the project requirements based on the competencies outlined in the Programming (Java) NCIII curriculum.”
Unlike traditional on-the-job training (OJT) programs that typically involve doing repetitive tasks or passive observation, the SIL program actively engages participants in the entire software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing and integration. They will collaborate in teams, receive structured mentorship, mini-trainings, and weekly feedback sessions, and gain a comprehensive understanding of building and connecting core system components. The capstone training will culminate in a live Demo Day, showcasing not just their technical abilities but also their professionalism and teamwork. Upon program completion, the students will also receive job placement assistance from Stratpoint.
“This program is part of a “pay it forward” mindset. By equipping participants with relevant and in-demand skills, we’re not only addressing the current talent gap but also inspiring a ripple effect,” Zayd added. “The participants we train today will eventually contribute to the growth of the tech ecosystem in the Philippines, potentially mentoring others in the future. With this, we hope to become a catalyst for industry advancement.”
Joysis TVI expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting its alignment with their mission to bridge education and employment through meaningful training programs.
“Partnering with Stratpoint for this SIL program allows us to bring real-world industry expertise directly to our students,” Joysis TVI expressed. “We are proud to help equip our trainees with practical skills and experiences that will give them a competitive edge in the workforce.”
The program also reflects Stratpoint’s broader learning and development strategy. According to Stratpoint Learning and Development Manager Nicky Balderosa, “Our goal is to bridge theory and practice while fostering long-term talent development. With proper mentorship and support, we aim to not only prepare students for the workforce but also inspire them to excel in their careers, enhancing our commitment to workforce development.”
The free SIL program embodies Stratpoint’s commitment to giving back to the community by empowering individuals with valuable tech skills and opportunities. This initiative not only addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals but also reflects the company’s dedication to uplifting lives through education. Stratpoint and Joysis TVI view this collaboration as a stepping stone for future initiatives, with the potential to expand similar programs and continue making meaningful impact in the years to come.
